I’m Jean, and this is the working-out

Seven years of not taking blogging seriously, then one year of actually trying. Oneblogger is the log: not a course, not a school, and not a success story told backwards.

Blogging since 2019, seriously since January 2026

I run an affiliate site in a competitive consumer niche. It isn’t this one, and I’m keeping its name to myself for now — not to be mysterious, but because a small site is easy to copy and hard to defend. Everything I learn there gets written up here, with the numbers attached.

I first started blogging in 2019. I didn’t really understand it, I didn’t take it seriously, and over the next few years I built a handful of other sites that went nowhere for the same reason. In January 2026 I decided to lock in properly and track every number. The first commission arrived on the 19th of June, 135 days after the first post, for thirty dollars. I crossed a hundred dollars on the 12th of August. As of today the total is $145 from 944 clicks and ten conversions, which works out at fifteen cents a click.

Those figures are the reason this site exists. When I was starting, every guide I read was written either by someone earning nothing and pretending otherwise, or by someone so far past the beginning that they had forgotten what it felt like. Almost nobody publishes the middle, and the middle is where people quit.

What I write about

Four things, and nothing else. Guides that put the decisions in order, reviews of tools I’ve actually paid for, income reports with the real figures, and the arithmetic behind questions people ask vaguely — like how much traffic $1,000 a month actually takes.

If you’re starting from zero, the 2026 starting guide is the place to begin. If you’ve started and stalled, read the traffic diagnostic. If you just want to know what this costs to run, it’s all in my stack.

What I won’t do

Every figure on this site comes off a dashboard, and when a number is bad I publish it anyway — the income report says $145 in eight months rather than dressing it up as momentum.

No recommending things I haven’t used. The stack page lists one paid subscription because that’s genuinely all I pay for. When a post links to a tool, I have the invoice.

No urgency, no countdown timers, no sequences. One email when there’s something new worth reading.

How this site makes money

Affiliate links. If you buy hosting through my Hostinger link, I earn a commission and you get 20% off — the discount is real and it’s the reason the link is worth clicking rather than searching for the brand directly.

That’s the whole model right now. No ads, nothing gated, nothing for sale. Links that earn a commission are labeled at the top of the post, every time, and the recommendation is the one I’d make without the commission. If those two things ever conflict, the recommendation wins and the link comes out.

Where this is going

More comparison posts, so that no single page carries most of the traffic. Screenshots of the dashboards behind the figures. And an income report every quarter with the same table, whatever it says.

The honest position: I’m at about 1.6% of the traffic needed for $1,000 a month. If you want a site that has already arrived, this isn’t it. If you want to watch one being built with the numbers showing, subscribe.

The numbers every quarter, whatever they say, and the guides when there’s one worth reading.
